Buy your alcohol at The Wine Cellar; cheaper than the grocery stores.
2 filled jugs are provided to you (5 and 3 gallons). This should give you cold and boiling water for 1 to 3 days. Towards the south of Providenciales you will find Chalk Sound, a large lake separated from the ocean with striking turquoise water and an array of small cays. Islands Magazine described Chalk Sound as "A pristine islets untouched and off the beaten path".
Preserved by the National Trust, Cheshire Hall is one of the main historic attractions on Providenciales. Guides offer this 200 year-old cotton plantation tours giving visitors a glimpse of the challenges faced by the plantation owners at the time.
It's OK... still go see it, since you are so close.
Conch Bar Caves National Park protects 24 km of underground caverns and is one of the largest cave systems in the Caribbean region. Some of the caves have lagoons as well as stalactites and stalagmites, and most have colonies of bats. Lucayan Indians left petroglyphs on the walls.
A National Trust Heritage site, Crossing Place Trail is a coastal path established in the 18th century by plantation settlers and slaves. This 8 km hiking and biking trail leads along coastal headlands, beaches, and inland bush with interpretive signs along the way.
A 5 km slice of coastline along the north of Middle Caicos, Mudjin Harbour is one of the most photographed sites on the Turks and Caicos Islands. Breathtaking limestone cliffs overhang the half-moon lagoon and its arc of white sand beach. Beach lovers can access it by car or by hiking Crossing Place Trail.
Declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, Salt Cay was once the world’s largest producer of salt. Seclusion seekers come here to relax on the white sand beaches, dive or snorkel the coral reefs, and spot humpback whales on their annual migrations from late January through early April.
Most visitors to Providenciales will find a day trip to North Caicos and Middle Caicos highly enjoyable. These two islands, despite being the two largest in the country, have small populations and low levels of development. They're laid-back and quiet, and offer an atmosphere not unlike Providenciales was like twenty years ago.
It's easy to see Grand Turk on a day trip from Providenciales. There are several flights each day from Providenciales, which leave early and return late in the day. It's only possible to reach Grand Turk via domestic flight as there are no ferries from Providenciales.
